M.S.I.T Degree

The Information Technology program is designed to serve two types of students. First, those who have an undergraduate degree and would like to make a career change to computer information technology, and second, those who are already in the information technology workforce and would like to enhance their career growth in a specialized area. Students may choose from four areas (1) Computer Information Systems, (2) Software Engineering, (3) Internet Technology, (4) Geographic Information Systems.

The Computer Information Systems area is designed for students who have limited or no computer programming background. Graduates from this area will go back to the job market as programmers/analysts. The other three areas are designed for people with undergraduate degrees in Computer Information Systems or a closely related field.

Note: Currently tracks one and four are not offered.

To be admitted to the program, a student must have a minimum undergraduate grade-point average of 2.5. Candidates must complete the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) with a minimum score of 1100 in any two areas or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) with a minimum score of 550.

Courses completed prior to receipt of an undergraduate degree cannot be used toward this program.  A thesis is not required.
